Dd like homous for breakfast. I bought some from supermarket that was out of date the day I bought it without realising. Told DH but left in the fridge as was going to take it back. DH just given to Dd - it is 2 days out of date ( use by date not best before). Should I be worried?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It will be absolutely fine

KeepCalm · 30/12/2018 08:11

Nope. No meat products or dairy in it. Calm yourself. All good.

KatharinaRosalie · 30/12/2018 08:11

No, it's just chick peas, I'm sure it was still perfectly fine.

Auntiepatricia · 30/12/2018 08:13

I wouldn’t even worry.

Somethingsosimple · 30/12/2018 08:13

Thanks all

keepcalm you know some of the worst food poisoning comes from out of date grains, like rice, don't you?
I agree with your answer but not your reasoning. Meat and dairy are really not the check list you need for making a decision.
OP, something like humous is really a quality issue. The flavour is what changes with age.

concernedforthefuture · 30/12/2018 15:15

It'll be fine, especially as it hadn't been opened already. I always end up eating it out of date; if it's too past its best, it goes a bit fizzy and isn't very nice, but still won't kill you Smile.

KeepCalm · 30/12/2018 16:15

@PissPotPourri my hummus doesn't contain rice or anything from drains either but thanks for the lecture.......

I'll pop my 20yrs of being in the food & drink industry (and all the subsequent qualifications) educated opinion back into my bags and pop off.

Best of luck @Somethingsosimple Smile

Nothing to worry about
