3 yr dd with temp of 38+ for 12 days

I don't know what to do. We were told last week on Mon 12th that it was tonsillitis but was viral. We were given a post dated prescription of antibiotics but dd refused to take them and would vom them up. I mixed them up in juice, yoghurt, Nutella but nothing worked. She would still not take them. At the end of last week, her appetite returned but she is still very tired and snuffly and still has a high temperature. Any suggestions?

a&e due to the high temp for so long.

I wouldn’t be happy with the temp going on for so long, especially if dd is unable to get the antibiotics down.
If you can’t get an urgent go appt I’d say A&E too.
Hope she’s better soon

Sorry, GP appt

Are there things that it could be? Should I ask for certain tests to be done?

I would hope the medical professionals should know what tests they should be doing. All I’m saying is don’t be fobbed off. Your poor dd must be feeling very poorly. If it’s viral then antibiotics are of no use, but you were given a prescription she can’t take so maybe she needs to be hospitalised to be given them iv if necessary.
Don’t sit on it, a 3yo with a high temp for that long should not be ignored

Has her urine be checked? Try and catch a clean sample and take to gpfor testing

How did you get on?

ladybirdsarelovely33 · 23/11/2018 00:04

London So she still had a temp of 38 this morning and her lymph nodes were up according to the dr so she prescribed amoxicillin. This is banana flavoured so dd had no problem taking it. It would have been more easier if we had been prescribed this first time we went to drs. The stuff they first prescribed- clarithomycin was so bitter, we couldn't get it down her.
