Just that really... My DS, age 10 is due to have root canal surgery and is extremely worried about both the injections and the treatment. We can’t get it under sedation, the Dr is unable to prescribe anything, so just need recommendations on anything you have tried and tested that I can buy over the counter that will help to calm and relax him. Thanks

Are you sure you can't ask the doctor for some pronanolol (sp?) I had it at that age for exam stress. I have a dental phobia and needle phobia and now have GA at a dental hospital for actual procedures.

The dentist can provide numbing cream to help with the pain of the needle. Try downloading some songs on your phone he can listen to while it's being done. I know you said they won't provide sedation, is that a GA or is it laughing gas too because that would help. Sorry I can't think of anything else, it's awful when you're so scared of the dentist :(

Can you try and see if he can have the treatment at another dentist. There are lots of surgeries around that offer IV sedation. Also have heard great things about Tooth Beary in Richmond, dont know if it is anywhere near you. Good luck
