Baby hair tourniquet

Posting to share experience and resulting top tip...

My 7 month old DD had a hair tourniquet on her toe (strand of hair wrapped itself round and round her toe very tightly). It can also happen to fingers or baby boy genitals.

I tried to remove it myself with tweezers which was impossible and DD was very distressed when I touched it.

We ended up at minor injuries unit, they could not remove it either. They suggested using hair removal cream like Veet. This worked perfectly in about a minute and was painless for DD. Maybe it is an obvious solution but certainly didn’t occur to me in the moment.

I wanted to share and have since been recommending to everyone I know with babies that they keep a sachet of hair removal cream in their first aid box. It may save a trip to hospital.

DD’s perfect piggy toe has now fully recovered Grin
