Is this the beginning of measles?

Hello, Dd has this rash on her forehead and has a rather browner rash under her chin/on her neck not as raised or angry looking as this one.

Could otherwise be a sweat rash? Just find it odd that it be on her face at her hairline and also neck.

It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all although she has been a bit clingier than usual.

She is almost 3. Thought it was a sweat rash yesterday morning but has become angrier and spread slightly across the hairline since then.

Pondering a quick trip to the pharmacy for the pharmacist to have a gander.

TIA

Is she vaccinated?

Hideandgo · 01/08/2018 11:08

Even if not thanks to other people vaccinating measles is very rare.

C4Envelope · 01/08/2018 11:28

Yeah I believe so, that would have been in the scheduled vaccinations wouldn't it?

Never even thought of vaccinations. Must try more coffee.

Did the typical google and panic. Will see how it fairs this afternoon and if it gets angrier il pop into pharmacy.

It's not measles! It's just a rash. Pop to pharmacists if it's not clearing up in a day or so and ask for advice

There is an incredible spike of fever that hits just before the rash comes out. My daughter definetly had measles confirmed by tests. She could NOT have the MMR { pead's advised against due to very severe failure to thrive followed by a life changing RTA that shattered her hip followed by orthoepadic oncology for benign bone tumours. ] The rash rapidly broke out everywhere including in her eyes and she felt very lethargic and very ill.

Thank you for taking the time to post. It looks less angry today so will keep an eye. No spike in fever.

Your poor DD, I hope she recovered quickly that must have been so hard for you both. I can see the difference in the rashes. Thanks

It took her 3 weeks to began to bounce back. Sadly her iffy immune system souped the ruddy thing up and caused her dad to go down with a heamorhagic form of measles. He was so seriously ill he had to be admitted to a negative pressure isolation unit and very nearly died.
This is why I am happy to share photos of my daughters measles rash to any parent who suspects they could be looking at measles. It can be very nasty and it can kill.
