Dd is 8 and started with a sore throat 3 weeks ago which quicklily developed into a cough. At first it was just in the morning and was better in the day. The last 3 days she has been coughing constantly and has such a sore throat. I tried to make her appointment with GP yesterday but none available so saw practice nurse who checked her over. Said her chest was clear which I knew already as I can hear cough in her throat. Looked in her throat and said very sore but just viral. Surely a viral cough wouldn’t be getting worse after 3 weeks. Told me to keep her off school until better. She already missed a few days off school because of this virus before half term. What can I do to help her other than plenty of fluids.? She was crying in the night with discomfort. I’ve been getting her gargle with salt water regularly too. She has no fever.
