Vomiting at the sight of certain foods

My DD had a sickness bug at the beginning of the week. The last thing she had eaten before she was sick was a piece of cake - she vomited the following morning and a few times that day.
Since then she has been fine however today I offered her a little bit of my cake (same cake - leftover from a party). She took one look at it shook her head and vomited.
She is normally a very good eater and eats a well balanced diet (and obviously I'm not going to try to force her to eat cake!) but I've never experienced anything like this before - do you think she has formed an association between the cake and being sick?
She is 18 months.

I vomit if I see bread in water/liquid other than soup. Don't know why.

I think it's pretty normal to have an aversion to a food you ate just before you were sick. It would make perfect sense if the food was poisonous or off...

My DD will no longer eat veggie sausages or skinny chips as it was the last thing she ate before coming down with a sickness bug. My DP can't face iceberg lettuce after once being ill after eating it.

I'm sure your DD's aversion to cake will pass, just don't offer her any for a while. When my DC were little I always found that their gag reflex was super sensitive after a tummy bug too and any little thing would make them throw up for a while - crying hard, coughing etc.
