Every cold turns to stridor croup in 1.5yo

What should we be doing about it? We have some very hairy nights where he is wheezing and “retracting” under his rib cage and fast breathing. But it happens so often.

We’ve seen a consultant when he did not have a cold, who just diagnosed it from our account as chronic stridor croup.

This sounds exactly like my son at that age, I found it terrifying. Initially following a hospital stay for it he was just diagnosed with a viral wheeze but after repeated attacks he with diagnosed with asthma. I would take him back to the drs and insist on seeing an asthma nurse. Ours has been fabulous. My sons now nearly 6 and has a preventer and a reliever inhaler and we mainly manage to keep on top of things. He does still seem to suffer more when he has a cough or a cold but no more hospital admissions fortunately.
