Dental insurance for kids

So my NHS dentist has just written to me saying they are withdrawing NHS treatment for children and they will now be treated as private patients. I'm reluctant to move dentist as there isn't very many near enough and the other NHS one we went to before was awful and wanted to leave a crumbling baby tooth that was causing pain and infection in my 7 year olds mouth rather than just whip it out which is what this dentist did. They have said we can pay them £6.30 per month per child then we would only need to pay 50% of costs. Is this a good deal? I've been googling all day but can't get my head around what is and isn't included in dental insurance. Both kids have also been told they will more than likely need braces when they are older is this correct weed under dental insurance? Help!
