I googled and now I'm freaking out! 2.5yr old lower back pain.

DD has gone through a week of saying various parts of her 'very hurting' we've had legs, arms, wrists, hands, fingers but it's settled on lower back and wrists and ears.

She has rosy red cheeks and a fever that we're managing with calpol/ibuprofen.

She's playing/walking/talking/eating/drinking, using the toilet and sleeping fine

But since this lower back pain is reoccurring I googled and read about how it's a serious symptom in little ones and combined with fever and other body aches could be a sign of leukaemia and other really awful diseases I have this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Please talk me down or just keep me company whilst anxiety eats me up, I already have one very sick child and one child with autism and then my 2 littler ones. Dd is my baby and I can't imagine coping if she's really poorly.

Are you sure she is genuinely hurting and not just playing? She could have a flu like virus and be aching. If she had something serious she would be
very poorly , especially with leukemia.

Don’t google
See a doctor if you are worried
Not worth sitting their trying to diagnose

Sounds like slapped cheek, causes all sorts of aches and pains and cold symptoms.

TheVanguardSix · 27/01/2018 19:50

Slapped cheek/Parvovirus for sure! DC3 had it at 2.8 years. I did as well. Your whole body aches. There's a lot of joint pain. I had glands up all over my occipital region, couldn't move my neck, couldn't get up off the floor after putting kids' shoes on, my fingers, wrists, elbows, back, everything hurt! DC3 couldn't articulate his pain but he must have felt the same way.

It's very painful and the telltale sign is red cheeks.

FairiesVsPixies · 27/01/2018 19:52

It's very very unlikely she's got leukemia, but it's highly likely she has a cold/germ etc. Don't google symptoms when you are an anxious person, it'll drive you madWink

AnyFucker · 27/01/2018 19:53

See a doctor. You are correct that back pain is rare in that age group. but young children are not able to accurately articulate their aches and pains so it totally could be something non life threatening

Get it checked out to reassure you

TitsalinaBumSqoosh · 27/01/2018 20:06

I will get it checked if anything because she says her ears are hurting and the red cheeks usually for her mean an ear infection.

I'm not normally an anxious person, DS1 has some huge surgery and medical bits and bobs happening very soon that we've been skirting around for 2 ears so I think that's playing on my mind.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm being a dink!

Almost everything combined with a fever can be symptoms of childhood leukaemia according to google. Speak to a doctor but prepare to be told it's a virus. If she's still poorly in 3 weeks go back to the GP a second time.
