DD (12) plays sport. A lot of sport. All the sport really😃
Currently on school hockey and netball teams, cross country squad and swim team.
For fun she does tennis once or twice a week and an early morning dance class.
I've tried limiting the sport (prob about 15-20 hours a week) but all I managed was to get her to drop football (and she's still cross with me about that!) As she gets her school work done we've let her get in with it.
However for the past 6 months she's been complaining of knee pain whenever she runs and it's got so bad that yesterday she had to drop out of parkrun as they hurt so much. I've taken her to the GP twice who diagnosed "rest" so she had 3 weeks off over Xmas. Parkrun was her first outing, she stretched and warmed up well but her knees were much worse than they'd ever been.
I don't think the GP is the best person for this. She's distraught at the thought of not playing sport so I'd like to take her to see someone who perhaps specialises in children's sports injuries. We're fortunate to have healthcare through my work so can go privately.
We are in London - can anyone recommend a consultant?
