Toddler with fever won't sleep

My 2yr old DS has had a fever for last 2 days. He has no other symptoms and during the day is pretty much his normal self until the fever peaks around 4pm. Last night he was awake for most of the night the finally got him to sleep around 2 am but then he was awake again at 5.30am. He only napped for 15mins today he went to bed as normal about 7pm but is now awake again and won't settle. Any advice on how to make him comfortable to sleep. He looks exhausted and so am I. I have given him Calpol and his temperature is back down just think a good sleep would do him the world of good.

Have you tried nurofen?

Well you need to treat the underlying illness to get him able to sleep again of course

What is causing his temp? Does he have any other symptoms

Has he been tested for a Uti? You need to take him to the drs - he probably can’t sleep as he’s in pain

No other symptoms he finally went back off last night and slept through. He's been fine all day then just before bedtime his temp went up again. Will see how he goes tomorrow then make a Drs appt just feel a bit if a time waster as other than temp and not sleeping he seems fine

Well he’s had a fever for 5 days now - you should be taking him to the dr for this so not a fraud at all - you’re just following nhs guidance.

Could be ear infection, uti, - they’ll check him out
