Actimist dry eye spray on children?

Hi. I have a 9 year old with dry eyes. Using drops on him is just impossible and ends up with us both feeling angry and upset. Has anyone used actimist dry eye spray on their children? Can't find any info on suitability. Thanks

Its very unusual for a 9 year old to have primary dry eye.
There are several things that could present with the patient having slightly red, sore itchy eyes.

I can find any definitive answer either, but you can also use normal drops on a closed eye. If you just get your son to lay down and close his eyes and then put a small drop onto the inner canthus, it will partially drain into the eye.

The optician diagnosed it. Have tried that with drops but he won't open his eyes lol. Going to try the spray. Thanks for the reply.

I'm an optometrist. There must be something causing the dry eye though...you need to treat the cause as well as the symptoms as dry eye drops/sprays don't treat the cause.

Thanks. What can the main causes be? Optician just said it happens, use the drops basically.

Hello
Just wondering how your child's eyes were?
I came across your post when googling the same issue which my son has been suffering from for a few months.

He saw the Optician and they said he has dry eyes and didn't seem overly concerned. He's had other issues like muscle aches so he saw a rheumatologist who did some Bloods in case it was juvenile arthritis but all was normal.

Hes still really struggling with his eyes and the eye drops make no difference and we're waiting for an ophthalmologist appointment.

My son (9 yrs) also has dry eyes (and so do I)...air conditioning and fans in the car etc give us both a big problem. He uses an eye spray...it helps a little. Underneaththeash - what would be the main underlying causes for dry eye in children please?
