My son was constipated and now won't pop on the toilet.

My 3 years old was constipated 3 weeks ago, was in a lot of pain when pooing but we managed to get him on laxatives. Since then his poos are much softer however he will not pop on the toilet at all! He will do it anywhere but the toilet. He was fully toilet trained and I had no issues until now. I have tried everything, bribes, reassurance all the time, trying to distract him while on the toilet but nothing is working.
It is even at the point now where he will sit on the toilet for a wee, come off the toilet and then minutes later will pop on his pants. I am at my wits end! Is there anyone that can help or anyone who has experienced this before who can give me tips? Help!

I could literally have written this thread myself. I have been understanding, pleading and cajoling. Tried threatening him with nappies and even put him in nappies, which just resulted in me chasing him around the house putting them back on him. So far, nothing has worked so I could use some advice!!!

Ok. Been there with dd (now 10). Take a deep breath. You will all get through this but it really doesn’t feel like it now.
Things that worked for us:
Put an open nappy on a potty and try and get him to poo on there.
Dilute prune juice.
Exercise/ cycling legs while he lies on back.
Sitting on the loo blowing bubbles either real or imaginary- it makes all the right muscles work.
Lots of fun and laughter while you feel like you’re dying inside.
You’ll get there.
