Worms - can I just put all the toys away for a few weeks?

Hi,

My nearly 2yr old has worms and so potentially do the rest of us, tho no symptoms. We are a family of 6, so this is a bit of a mission.

We've washed all bedlinen, duvets, pillows, nightwear, lots of soft toys (rest are in quarantine in upstairs bathroom whilst we work our way through). We've damp dusted (wet-wiped) everything and vacuumed. The kids are in pants inside pjs with morning bum washing and hand hygiene etc. We've all had ovex. However, there is so much stuff to wash! If the eggs only live outside the body for a couple of weeks, can we back some of the toys up (eg those with battery bits in) and stick em in the loft for a month? Will that kill them? (the eggs, not the build-a-bears). Confused

Bag them up, not back!

Just give them a wipe, they will be fine. It's not that contagious that you can get it from toys, it's mostly passed by hand-to-mouth contact.

Cut everyone's nails short as the eggs get stuck there and make sure everyone washes hands before eating and after toilet use, discourage nail biting, finger/thumb sucking if practical to do so.

Thank you :)

You have gone a bit overboard! Ovex and washing bedding and towels is all you need to do.

I think you can stop now. Give everyone a second dose in a couple of weeks and you should have it covered. I went completely overboard the first time we had them. Now i do the basics and stay away from the internet!! Internet research sent me to the edge!

Fingers crossed!
