Toddler had lump on neck, very worried!!

My toddler has had a lump on her neck for around a year now that has gradually been getting bigger. Right now it's around the size of a grape! GP told me several times it was just a swollen lymph node but I was never satisfied with this. I then took her to a different GP who referred her for an ultrasound. Ultrasound results came back yesterday and I'm really worried. The consultant radiographer has told our GP to refer her on to ENT for further investigations as he wasn't sure what it was. My GP told me in the radiographer report he noted here appeared to be blood flow to the mass and that it didn't appear to be a cyst. GP has advised me they will most likely want CT or MRI done along with a biopsy. The referral has been put through as urgent and she will been seen in the next few weeks. Has anyone had a similar experience? What was the outcome? Am I worried for nothing? I genuinely feel sick with worry at this stage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, is there any more updates with your tots lumps? My boy got one last June/July after being sick and its still there and just recently got more after being ill :/

We had the first one intially checked last summer and they werent worried, said the same as most of you as a swollen lymph node, but im just concerned to why its stilp there and now theres more :/ Gonna ring the doctors tomorrow for another check X

We got referred to the paediatrician in the end and my son had blood tests, a chest X-ray and a then a scan on his neck. They said that everything is fine and the lymph node is sitting further forward which is why it can be seen, they said it might become a little less obvious as it grows. Definitely best to get it checked out if there’s now some more but hopefully nothing to worry about x

Reusmum · 30/09/2023 13:34

Hi. Have you been to see the GP? They really started the ball rolling for us when it came to getting it checked out x

MommaBee21 · 01/10/2023 11:13

we got his checked out by a paediatrician aswell twice ( still has it now, had a check up for it a few months ago.

She said it was normal and some children get them as long as its nit growing and growing to just keep an eye on it. She said some kids have it for years before it goes away so im relaxing a little with it, defensively glad i got it checked though just incase x

Did your sons one eventually go away or is it always present?

Needahandholdplease2023 · 18/01/2024 08:12

My sons also had this for over a year.. its been growing too and never goes away even when he's well we had 2 lots of bloods which were normal he has an ultrasound on it on the 29th. Took us so many trips to the drs until one dr took us seriously and I told him I'd go private for a scan just want to know my child is ok and its harmless x

Pinkie12 · 02/04/2024 04:15

@Needahandholdplease2023 could you please update on how the ultrasound went. Ours showed that it’s a 1cm lymph node. Not sure what to make of that. It is just so physically visible on my DS, I panic all over again every time i see it

Needahandholdplease2023 · 02/04/2024 08:52

@Pinkie12 all good!! The ultrasound showed he had 2 ones still very big and visible. He said there was no evidence it was anything other than a lymph node and no signs of anything sinister. I'm sure it's the same for your DS but it's so worrying isn't it!! X

Pinkie12 · 02/04/2024 09:29

Aww thank you for your quick response. That’s exactly the same that they said for my son’s ultrasound too. Then when it pops up again, and especially when I don’t see it a lot on other kids, I need reassurance about it all over again

Needahandholdplease2023 · 02/04/2024 14:37

My sons doesn't go down at all but I've relaxed now x

Pinkie12 · Today 18:37
