Does anyone have any experience of senna for chronic constipation?

DD2 (4.5 years) has been on and off movicol for years. Since Christmas she has been fairly well controlled on a sachet every other day and until last week she was having very few episodes of soiling. This week however has been difficult - lots of soiling and wetting (she only wets when constipated) so I have increased her to one sachet a day. She appears to have no sensation when she is constipated, and she doesn't even realise that she has soiled. Other children are starting to notice at school so I really want to make things better for her.
I have read about senna helping to increase the sensation of needing to go when used alongside the movicol. Does anyone have any experience of using it? We have an appointment with the GP next week and I am wondering whether to ask if we can try it.
TIA

Ds has chronic constipation, and bowel issues.

The senna can help alongside the movicol, but you may need to up the dose of movicol too.

I'm afraid ds wouldn't take the stuff, so can't tell you it worked, sorry, but it sounds like it is worth a try. Good luck

Thank you
Yesterday was slightly better - 'only' 2 episodes of soiling that were fairly small followed by good results on the toilet
