Ear buddies for rim kink in older baby

Hi,

My baby has a rim kink (a dent in the cartilage at the top and side of both ears). I didn't realise that this wasn't normal at birth and just thought the ears would straighten themselves out but this hasn't happened. At 7 months I took her to the doctor who suggested ear buddies. As she is an older baby but breastfed I will need to keep them on her for 4 months. I put them on today and so far she hasn't been bothered by them at all.

I just wondered if anyone has any success stories with ear buddies, particularly in older babies and with a rim kink or similar. I've read a lot of other posts on here that comment on sticking out ears but none that talk about correcting a deformed ear.

Also, we are going on holiday in 2 weeks (bad timing but I don't want to leave it any longer as she's already older than is ideal). Does anyone have any tips when using them on holiday/ swimming?

Thanks in advance. I'm really struggling with the guilt of sticking down her ears for something that is cosmetic but I know if it was me I would have wanted my mum to correct them in a non invasive way when I wouldn't remember it rather than painful surgery at a later date if she doesn't like her ears.

When DS was 9mths old he was diagnosed with a heart condition. The first time we met his Consultant, he walked into the room, looked at DS and said, "What a funny little ear he's got!" Shock How we'd not noticed, I'll never know! Grin He didn't have a rim kink but didn't really have any form at the top of his ear, almost like a little pixie. Anyway we used ear buddies on that ear for about 3mths and his ears look perfectly normal now. They worked really well and never bothered DS. I can't give any advice about swimming as I was a bad Mother and never took him at that age but I'd certainly recommend giving them a go.

Thank you so much for your reposnse. We've started using them now and she's not bothered about them at all which is a relief. It's good to know that they have worked for an older baby. We will keep going! Thanks again x

Hi I know this thread is a few months old.
Wanted to know how you got on with the ear buddies?
My 4 month old has bat wing ears it's a family trait my eldest had her ears pinned back last year and I wonder if I use ear buddies on my son it will prevent surgery in the future.
Which kit did you buy how long did it last?
Thank you
