Have any other mums come across or seen anything similar

Hey I'm new am trying to find out what's wrong with my daughter by any means possible, so if any of you have an insight to what she may be doing please help, science she was three months old she keeps tending her whole body starting with her legs, I have seen doctors who have told me it's just something she does, I have seen a pedatritian who very helpful said she has never seen this before, and has no idea what it is, she has sent my baby for a video telemetry eeg and that came back she is not epileptic, alough she had 39 episodes (of her tensing) in the space of 22 hours, witch I think is loads and alough were lucky she hasn't got epilepsy we still don't no what's wrong with her, I'm constantly trying to stop her it upsets her she even does it when she is trying to sleep takes ages of trying to hold her legs and comfort her it's exhausting, I just would like to no what it is, our next step is phsyo therapy hopefully they can at least try n help stop her but still dosnt answer why and what, please any insight on this would be much appreciated I'v tried to attach a video but is not working much thanks

Does she seem unhappy or distressed when she does it?
If you've seen doctors including a paediatrician I don't think mners will add much, sorry.

Yes it does upset her, it doesn't look comfortable for her at all, sometime she'll cry and do it as if she no's what's coming, and I no may not get many replys that's ok just taking a shit in the dark in hopes someone may no was up, or lead us in the right direction :)

How old is she? Do you have other children?
Could it be wind? (Sorry - just a thought )

When my ds was a toddler he used to get very upset and distressed that he couldn't "stretch his bum out" - no matter how much we tried we couldn't work out what was wrong. We can only assume soRt of calf cramps or growing pains. He's 9 now and can't remember which is a pity! :)

I have two older children and it's deffanatly not wind I thought this at first but she is fine with wind, I know how to deal with colic it's not constipation either have had doctor conferm it also my first suffers from constipation and it's different and literally all the time

Dd2 used to do this but not that many times a day. I'm feeling bad now because I didn't think to ask a doctor.
In the end I decided it was when she was weeing in her nappy. She still does it occasionally now (she's 2.3) but only once a month or so.

Yes ds stopped stretching his bum out before his vocabulary was good enough to explain it

She is only seven months old and thanks I didn't think it may be somming to do with toilets will have to get her comfy and see, did your little one slow down then did you help her try n stop her cause I do but if I let her do it she'll just carry on

And don't feel bad bout not asking a doctor I'm just OCD about the kids it's not good

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing but it sounds exactly like both my girls and according to my Mum, me, when I was little. We refer to it as 'going stiff', both my DDs do it (2yrs 3months and 10months). They mainly do it when they're sat down in a high chair, buggy, trolley seat etc. and like you say they tense their whole body starting with their legs. I haven't worried about it because I did it and I'm fine (!!) but a significant difference is that it doesn't distress them at all. I assume they just like doing it, in the same way as my youngest enjoys blowing raspberries whilst eating or any other habit we would find odd as adults. Not sure if this will have helped at all and I certainly don't want to be dismissive so I hope I haven't come across as such.

Google Samdifer's Syndrome. It's linked to reflux and has a characteristic movement.

Just looked it up she doesn't really arc her back like it and her arms come in not out

My niece did this as a young child quite often, it was strange but didn't seem to distress her. She's now 13 and stopped doing it years ago

My son used to do that. He had severe reflux and he did it until we had the reflux under control.

Mm so doesn't sound typical for sandifer's then. Having said that DS was a contortionist although not classically sandifer's movements. He had reflux/ CMPI and stopped when treated.
