Giving omprezole tabs to a 2 month old- how do you give it successfully?

My little boy was born at 26 w and is 2 months corrected.
He's doing fantastic but since coming out of hospital the GPS have changed the brand of omprezole and he's becoming more wiser to taking it, or not as the case maybe!
I can see the reflux symptoms really kicking in again and it's so distressing for him.
In hospital we gave the omprezole mixed in his milk, at the time it was small amounts but now it's gone up I'm struggling to give to him without him 1) realising 2) vomiting 3) refusing to drink it.
He is on Neocate milk also for milk allergy but I'm not convinced this has helped, I think the omprezole is controlling the problem.
I'm really interested how others are managing to get their little babes to take Omprezole? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Is it the disolvable tablets? Make sure you disolve it in as small amount of water as possible. E.g if you have a 10mg tablet and you need to give him 5mg, disolve it in 2mls of water and give him 1ml. Best way to give babies medicine is have them lying back so gravity helps it stay in the mouth and use a syringe into the back of their cheek.

Oh, he didnt just start the neocate did he? Its got a very different taste to normal formula so if his milks been recently changed it could be that that he's refusong rather than the omeprazole?

You can get omaprezole as a suspension. Gps don't like to prescribe it as it's really expensive but for a 2 month old it is much better.. ask the GOP and don't leave until you get it. The tablets don't dissolve at all well and getting it in a baby is so hard..

If it's tablets then use a calpol syringe. Put tablet in syringe, suck up 2-3ml of mildly warm boiled water and shake to dissolve for 5 mins or so. The little balls are the important part so you need to keep sucking up more water after giving to baby until the syringe is empty of the balls (they all stick the inside of syringe).

If it's the liquid then I don't have any advice except syringe it into the inside of their cheek and try to stop them spitting it out.

I was about to say suspension too- my son had it when he was little.

Thanks for your response I did have the liquid but it was a mint flavour and every time he had it he gagged and threw it up! Thenone liquid he had in hospital didn't have a flavour so it was easy to give.
Hadn't thought about dissolving it in less water and didn't realise the ball bits were important-
Will try again today with less water, he has to have 10mg, which currently is dissolved in 10mg water. So if I try 5mg dissolved in 5mg of water that should work?
I noticed the GP prescribed disolvable ones yesterday.
He has been on Neocate for about month now, so I don't think it's that, although I am aware that his smell has recently enhanced so I wonder if his taste buds have too?

I used to disolve the 10mg tablet in about 3ml of water, it still tastes horrible so the less water the better I found.

He is 12 weeks old now then ... You could try a soya yogurt or fruit purée. My DS had sever reflux and our consultant wanted him weaned ASAP as food is heavier than milk... Especially neonate ... Apple purée works well and they don't notice the taste or texure.

I would disolve 10mg in 2-3mls of water.
