I was hoping someone here has done the research on the best vitamins for children. My son has ADHD (6YO) and I notice such a difference in his behaviour when his diet is good and vitamin intake is high. Annoyingly he has gone off some of the vitamins that he was previously taking so I'm trying to find new ones for him. I recently read "The Brain Food Plan" where the author mentions the importance of vitamin B1/B3/B6, magnesium, zinc & omegas.
For Omegas, I saw on the Tinsly house website that the recommend Vegepa but he won't take the chewable tablet, only liquid hidden in yoghurt/juice (trying a few new ones at the moment that are hight in EPA)
What do people give for extra magnesium & zinc? He will just about take the Animal Parade Gold but the magnesium/zinc values are not as high as in other multi vitamins. I've tried him on Floradix kindervital and saludynam but it seems to make him very hyper (maybe all the fruit juice concentrate?!) or it could just be coincidence - no idea!!
I'm finding it all a bit of a mine field so would greatly appreciate if anyone could offer advice on which ones they have found to be good.
He diet is generally good (and mostly gluten free) and we avoid unnecessary sugar/enumbers where possible. Although he has a small appetite so whilst I try to give him nutritious food his overall intake is quite small.
He is currently going through a highly excitable phase which is why I'm desperate to get him re-balanced asap!
