What are these black dots on my baby's head?

Hi,

These little black dots have been on my baby's head since we brought him home about 3 weeks ago (he's 4 weeks old). They don't come off in the bath when we've used a soft brush or even a soft sponge on them.

They don't cause him any irritation or bother, we're just curious as to what they are - and why they are there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Is it where his hair will come through, do you think?

A friend also suggested that be he he case - it sounds like he most logical explanation :)

I think it's hair (deep in the follicles maybe?) my hair goes like that after lasering and before it disappears. I guess this is the same in reverse
