How do I get my baby to stop sucking her thumb?

I thought it would be as easy as giving her a pacifier every time I see her with a thumb in her mouth. When I was a kid I found it very hard to give up thumb sucking - I stopped when I was 11 (!). I don't want my baby to develop the same bad habit. She doesn't take to the pacifier from tommee tippee so I'm wondering if there is a special pacifier that makes it more likely for her to suck rather than her thumb?
