Any tips on dealing with head lice when there are also signs of chicken pox

Chicken pox now all scabbed over now but 1 DC had dozens of eggs and they all have some signs of nits. I want to start getting rid of the nits today as I don't want them to scratch and get the chicken pox scabs infected. I have been and bought the essentials today. Nit comb, conditioner and obviously wine......

maybe sweets for the poor infested kid, too.
just get combing with a good light to hand. Friend always put a special video on for sessions.

If your DC has suitable hair, it's great to start hunting for unhatched eggs & remove them, too. Boys are great because you can give them a number 2 shave & get rid of almost everything in about 45 minutes.

Hedrin is only solution I can suggest for very long /curly / awkward hair.

Maybe check your children's scalps for any unhealed chicken pox wounds as that will sting like crazy with a nit lotion on.
It might be best to wait until the scabs are healed before treating but I do see your predicament, the dc may scratch at existing scabs.

A pharmacist might be able to give you better advice tomorrow. I think there are some 'non toxic/natural' nit lotions you can buy for sensitive scalps but god knows if they work!

My only other advice would be to hotwash the kids' bedding and hoover the sofa cushions after you have used the lotion to get every last bastard nit.
Good luck, it all sounds like a bit of a nightmare.

Have now removed what seems like a lot of nits. DH and I are going to do the Conditioning treatment to each other after the wine. Lots more nits than the last time we had them in the house. Will speak to pharmacist tomorrow. Felt mean nit combing, ended up removing some with my fingernails. Apparently nits on live on people, washing bedding etc makes no difference.

Well done. I could have saved myself a lot of extra work if I'd known you didn't have to wash all bedding as well.

Washing bedding is essential when you have children with thread worms though.....I really don't like some of the things that children can share with each other
