I3 year old with painful itchy willy

My 3 year old has been complaining of a sore, itchy willy. The Dr prescribed Anti fungal cream for thrush (he's had antibiotics recently) but he has been up all night crying, we have applied the cream but it doesn't seem to be helping.

I don't know whether to persist with the cream or ask to see the doctor again today. Or is there anything else we can try?

Keep applying the cream. How long's it been? And also ring the GP asking if this is normal.

It may be that he's got it quite bad, so it'll take a while to work.

Maybe he needs oral medicine, if he's got thrush internally. Best go back to GP, I think.

For girls, sitting in a bath with bicarb can help, but I don't know whether this works for boys as well, because the mucous membranes are internal.

Also you could give him Calpol or Nurofen to help with the discomfort while the cream is working.

Thanks all. The doctor felt there might be a bacterial issue too so we have fucidin cream as well now, he's dosed up on neurofen and much perkier, though he'll be ruinously tired later after such a bad night.
