Eczema herpeticum- anyone had experience with it?

My dd, 11 years was diagnosed with it last Friday as a dermatology emergency (after taking her to the Drs 3 times in a week & them just saying it was bad eczema!)

Shes still on her two penicillin, which ends on Monday, she's finished her course of aciclovir & has had seven days treatment now of the steroid creams.

The spots/blisters on her face have improved. But the spots & blisters on her body are still very much visible & the original eczema patch on her arm that triggered the whole thing is still very much there - I can't say it looks worse, but I can say it doesn't look a whole lot better either - if I remember rightly the dermatologist at the hospital did say that once she started taking the aciclovir, we should see a considerable improvement within a couple of days, but I don't think we have.

The Drs are now closed for the Easter break. I'm in two minds whether to continue with the steroid cream as her arm/hand looks so sore & the skin looks so damaged, we're moisturisering it too.

I feel we should take her to a walk-in & get her assessed again. The pictures are taken from a couple of days ago.

def get a 2nd and 3rd and more opinions until you find a solution. Poor dd.

DD is amazing, she hasn't whinged at all, she's just getting on with things, says she feels absolutely fine & this hasn't stopped her doing anything - she's out playing daily with her brother, I'm in awe of her strength & attitude - it looks horrendous (of course I don't say that in front of her) & if it was me I'd not want to leave the house & I'd probably feel quite down about it all, but not dd - I'm so proud of her, I just wish I could make her better, I know it's uncomfortable for her, it's itchy & she's wanting to scratch.

She's never had eczema before 😳. She's never had a skin problem, maybe the odd bit of dry skin but no eczema then boom suddenly this! It's usually her brother that suffers from eczema but he's absolutely clear at the moment. None of us have had a cold sore so can't think how the herpes virus has caught her as that's what eczema herpeticum is, it's atopic eczema, which gets infected by the herpes virus. It can, rarely go on to attack the internal organs & become fatal. DD saw 2 different Doctors who said it was bad eczema, they even saw all the blisters and spots on her body. It was only because I took her back the 3rd time in the same week that another doctor recognised it was something else & sent her straight to hospital that it was diagnosed as eczema herpeticum. If I hadn't taken her back for that 3rd doctors appt and she hadn't been put on the right antiviral medicine, I shudder what to think may of happened.

So now a week on I'm thinking should we be seeing more improvement or does this thing take its time? If it's like chicken pox spots they take a couple of weeks to completely go if I remember correctly?
