My ds who is 3 has been poorly for a few days with a virus saying his head hurts, tummy, ears and eyes. Today we took to gp out of hours because had developed a rash on his torso. She looked him over said it was vital. He keeps waking up tonight screaming saying his eyes hurt.. I'm really scared what is causing it

I would go A&E I think. Is it the light hurting his eyes?

MrsBungle · 13/03/2016 23:35

Oh a and e for me too, especially if it's particularly light hurting eyes.

nocoolnamesleft · 13/03/2016 23:39

Agree. A&E. It may still all be viral, but things have changed with a potentially worrying sign, so needs checking out promptly.

TheAussieProject · 14/03/2016 00:55

It may be linked to his headache and an increased pressure behind his eyes.
It could also be sinusitis , but then why the rash and the tummy.

Conclusion, yes he needs to see someone again.

CrazyMary · 14/03/2016 01:15

Have you given him calpol/nurofen? If so, and no change, I would call out of hours and ask for their advice on whether he needs to go to a&e. I hope he feels better soon.

MrsOs · 14/03/2016 08:27

Thanks ladies he woke again screaming in the night wouldn't say what it was about managed to settle him eventually but this morning still saying his eyes are poorly! I have just given nurofen and see if that helps I think I will make opticians appt anyway.

I would call 111 or your go and ask for advice this morning, not wait for an optician. Hope your lo feels better soon.

MrsOs · 14/03/2016 08:39

But two Drs have seen him and said its a virus I'm not sure what else they can do

I'm sorry but the amount of times I've heard horror stories about GPs saying 'it's only a virus' would prompt me to go to A&E with those symptoms.

MrsOs · 14/03/2016 09:51

I appreciate that but he is up and being quite naughty. The only concern I really have now is his eyes being sorr

I know that chicken pox can make eyes ache, because I experienced it. I don't know about other viruses. If you are worried I would get him seen.

MrsOs · 14/03/2016 10:44

The rash is now really itchy!! It doesn't look like chickenpox I have given him piriton

So what did the dr say?

MrsOs · 16/03/2016 05:23

We ended up being sent up to hospital because he was photophobic but when hospital did assessment they concluded viral infection and sent us home
