Hi, my husband to be and I are hoping to have a child together. My son is from
from a previous relationship so we have yet to discover the practicalities and challenges raised by having a child who has a 50/50 chance of having brittle bones. I just wondered whether anyone had any experience with this and any advice to offer. My partner is particularly worried about it as he doesn't want our child to go through the same difficulties he did. I want to be able to be as prepared and informed about what to expect and how to do the best I can for a child that I desperately want. I have tried researching online but not found a lot. Interested in pregnancy, any genetic tests there may be, practicalities of raising a child who could be severely disabled, ways I can support my partner with his feelings about it, any new treatments that may be around now etc. TIA

Ask for a referral to genetics to discuss it?

Thank you, that is a good idea. Something we were thinking of, but wasn't sure if that was something you do once you are pregnant or not
