Dd had her preschool boosters ten days ago and is now quite poorly, I've looked at all the side effects of the mmr but they don't mention shortness of breath, is this normal? She is full of snot and has a bad cough as well....

10 days is about right fir any side effects to show. a cold is pretty commom to get. the shortest of breath could be indicative of it dwlping into a chest infection though. is she wheezy at all?

It could be totally unrelated to the jab and she could be getting a cold instead.

She has now been sick too :(

:( was she coughing at the time?

it's possible she's swallowed some of the mucous and that's what's made her sick.

or she could have a bad virus. which could or could not be related to the jabs. poor mite Flowers

I often cough until I'm sick when I've got a cough or cold with plenty of mucous. The body is working so hard to get rid of the phlegm that the muscles react as if you are going to be sick, so you often are sick.

It must be worrying to watch your child so short of breath too. It's probably worth going to OOH if your DD is struggling to catch her breath. My DC have been given streroids when this has happened, in the past.

There are lots of coughs and colds around at the moment as summer changes to autumn, the weather changes and more children go back to school and sit in close proximity to 30 other children's coughs and colds. There's a lot of bugs about at this time of the year.

Lots of dd's class have been off already with coughs and colds and ds has had one too. It is the time of year for these things to go about so not necessarily anything to do with the jab

Yeah... we are now staying overnight in hospital! She's having nebulisers ever couple of hours, she's never had shortness of breath like this before, very odd. Hospital staff are saying they've been inundated with kids having the same problem recently :/

I'm glad that you and your DD are in safe hands. Hope you both get some sleep tonight and that she recovers quickly.
