Mouth injury in child- dead teeth?

DS (9) had an accident falling off his bike a couple of days ago . Landed on his face. His mouth, gums, nose and chin are badly cut and bruised. His Teeth look ok, and he says they feel ok although there was a lot of bleeding from his mouth. We had him seen at A and E who checked him over and said he was fine. I'm now worried about his teeth having suffered a blow and dying. They're all his adult ones. Is there anything I can do now to prevent this? And if they are dead, how soon would that show? . We're on holiday, I'll take him to our dentist when we get home but I just wondered if I could do anything now, to improve the chances of everything being fine. Thanks.

My daughter lost her teeth due to a bad accident when she was 2. The trauma was immediate and she had to go to the dental hospital the next day to have the teeth removed, she couldn't even drink with a straw. Now her adult teeth are here they are slightly twisted which the dentist said is the trauma from her fall at 2. One tooth has a yellow patch as well now. If your son was having any serious problem I am sure you would have more symptoms, painful eating, aching jaw and he would definitely be needing pain killers. If you can slightly shake the teeth (if he doesn't mind) to make sure they are not too loose then that's it, brush as normal. If the teeth feel very loose leave them alone until he gets to a dentist. Ask him to bite into an apple, if that goes ok he should be ok. Hope it all turns out alright for you both.

You can't do anything and if the teeth do die (which they may not), they may be entirely symptomless or they may give symptoms any time from tomorrow until he no longer needs his teeth. Incredibly variable.

Unless the roots are broken then there will be nothing to see on an x ray for many months yet.
