Screaming with sore bottom but no nappy rash any ideas?

DS is 3.5 and has been complaining of a sore bottom today. There is no nappy rash, tonight he is inconsolable with it, I have put bet happen on his bum and around his anus, I have also given him calpol but to no effect. He won't be cuddled or comforted and is flinging himself around in pain.

Anyone got any ideas what else I can do for him? Obviously docs if no better in the morning but want to help settle him now.

constipation?
Worms?

Constipated? My dad is 3.3 and always says her bottom hurts if she is constipated.

DD not dad! Bloody autocorrect!

UTI?

lbnblbnb · 31/05/2015 21:48

Worms affected my son like that, sorry!

looiloo123 · 31/05/2015 21:48

Check for worms when sleeping. My dd had this problem the other day and it was worms!

ineedsomeinspiration · 31/05/2015 21:50

Don't think it's constipation, he has had two normal stools today but has several times said he needs a poo and done nothing.

How do I check for worms?

Is he potty trained?

If so, get him out of bed before you go. You are likely to see them.moving round his anus. If in nappies, you may see them in his poo.

Vile things.

ineedsomeinspiration · 31/05/2015 22:02

He is potty trained in the day but still in nappies at night. I'm 13 weeks pregnant if it is worms do I need to do anything special?

Dh has put a plaster on his bottom which seems to have pacified him for now!

Probably not worms if not itchy.

If it is, trim all nails, treat rest of family with ovex. Wash all towels and bedding. Hoover.

Thrush?

TheImprobableGirl · 31/05/2015 22:12

You check with a torch Wink go at night whilst he's sleeping and see if there are any wriggly white bits around the anus- if there are you have worms!!

I think more like uti, make sure he's drinking loads, and if still complaining of a hurty bottom I would take him to gp to rile out piles etc etc.

ineedsomeinspiration · 31/05/2015 22:19

Think the calpol may have kicked in now. Can't see anything round his bottom when I've just had a look. I've got him in our bed now with a ben and holly dvd on quietly hopefully he'll drop off. Never had to do anything like this before for him normally very good boy at night.
The only other thing is that he was visiting his nan ladt week and used to sharing a room. Don't think its him playing up but if still complaining tomorrow trip to the docs should rule that out.
