DD fell and hurt her vagina

DD is almost three and was naked from the waist down and fell and hurt her vagina. She was quite upset, but we were able to distract her and all seemed okay. However when she went for a wee she complained saying it was hurting her and she couldn't do a wee. She also won't let me look at her vagina because she said she's worried it will hurt. I could get an okay look and there doesn't appear to be any marks or redness. I've left her for the night to see how she feels in the morning. Does anyone have any advice? I gave her some Calpol and she seems to be sleeping okay.

Also she is having a bit of constipation so she could be confusing her wee/poo pain.

I take it you mean her vulva (if we're being anatomically correct)?

How could a child fall and hurt her vagina?

If this post is real, Calpol sounds like a good idea. Hope she feels better in the morning.

I presume you mean vulva, not vagina. If she's hurt her vagina that is a whole different thing, that's "inside" her vulva and not likely to get hurt with normal playing.

Yes I suppose I mean her vulva, basically she was stepping over something (it was a plastic shopping basket) she tripped and landed with it right between her legs. She's just woken up and said she was hurting, but didn't want anymore Calpol. She's fallen asleep in our bed. Hopefully she will feel better in the morning, if not I might have a phone appointment with the doctor.

I can't really get a look while she's sleeping, she's in an all in one sleep suit, pants, and underwear. I'd probably just wake her up.

I fell as a child and landed hard on the heel part of my sandal (flat sensible Clarks sandals before anyone comments!) and managed to tear my vagina (and no I do not mean vulva). Remember having to go to the doctor! It's unusual I'm sure but perfectly possible to injure yourself there.

If the plastic jabbed her hard in the urethra/vulva then she's probably just bruised - but Dr should prob check there's no real damage if it carries on hurting

Is it the actual flesh on the vulva that is hurting, or do you think the pain is coming from the bone she fell on?

She might like to wee in a warm bath. Maybe with some lavender or tea tree essential oil if you have it (just a few drops in milk or vodka to disperse through bath water).

Ah yes! My younger sister did this when her feet slipped whilst playing "horses" with the blackboard. Obviously it was my fault as I had the only hobby horse. Hopefully it will feel better tomorrow. Perhaps you could have a look when getting her dressed tomorrow.

Ahem - this happened to me when I was little. I was standing on a wooden stool by the sink and slipped off with one foot so the edge of the stool hit me right between the legs. Cue bloodbath and emergency trip to hospital...
Op, if she is so bruised that she can't wee take her to the drs first thing in the morning. The bruising is not a problem but urinary retention definitely is.

I have vaginal/pelvic issues, in this case I would advise some ibuprofen which will help with pain and inflammation if it's a bit sore and maybe a hot water bottle.

One thing to consider is if she passing urine though? If not, I'd want her checked over by a doctor to ensure there isn't an obstruction caused by injury.

Keep an eye on it. Yes to offering a bath in the morning if she doesn't want to pee, but if she's still uncomfortable then do see a doctor.

I did this when I was a little bit older - slipped on a trampoline and fell right on the metal bar - and I remember sitting in bowls of warm water and visiting the doctor. I think it might have damaged my hymen, though that could be mixed memories.

(Loves the fact that the OP saying vagina instead of vulva means its clearly a weird post Grin)

She had a little bit of difficulty in the morning, but then did a wee and I asked her a few different ways and she said it didn't hurt. So all is okay. I think it must have just been tender and she was very worried it would hurt, rather than it actually hurting.

I did the same thing when I was little but climbing over a drawer (it looked like someone had killed a pig in the room)

My 3 YO DD did this last week when she fell over and landed on her shoe. She's a bit of a drama queen and sobbed all night saying she couldn't wee. I was all set to take her to A & E when she did a huge wee on the floor and was right as rain after that. I think she thought weeing would hurt so held it in.

I've done this as an adult - climbing over a gate. Ow! It was rather purple down there for a while Blush glad she's feeling better.
