11-yr-old DD starting to get spots -- suggestions?

Not sure where the science currently stands on spots. My daughter is starting to get them, and I'd like to help keep them away if I can. Is it diet? Hormones? Face-washing? Exercise? A combination of all of the above?

Is she a face toucher? Has she often got her hands there? Tell her to stop and keep telling her to stop....break that habit. Mucky hands on faces are a major cause of spots.

At her age she doesn't need posh cleansing things...I think emollient is the best cleanser. A plain moisturizer if she has dry patches.

Avoid processed foods too.

DS started getting them a few months ago. We borrowed a book on puberty which he read cover to cover and which emphasised "wash wash wash".

Shower and hairwash daily. Facewash with flannel and basic facewash. Spots have gone!
