Asthma cough - how to treat?

Ds(6) got cold and damp at football camp yesterday and subsequently spent the whole evening coughing, sometimes every 10-20 seconds.

He has cough-variant asthma, usual brown and blue inhalers. Last night I tried inhaler, steamy bathroom, drinks, honey, bed propped up ... everything. It ended up sounding a bit 'croupy' - but finally got to sleep around midnight.

And it's the same this evening. Is there anything more I can/should be doing?

Hi. It may be worth checking with your specialist but we were advised to up our son's dosage. he is on a relatively low dosage of once a day but in allergy season or when he gets ill we up it. It can take a few days to help, but can do extra blue inhaler in the meantime. i.e. twice a day brown with extra puffs of blue until settles. he also has very bad hay fever so we make sure he is getting his daily dose.

I have cough variant asthma and I do up my dosage when I've got a cough, as advised by my asthma nurse. I also do the Vicks vaporub on the soles of my feet when it's bad and I can't sleep but I don't know if it just works through placebo. You're probably already doing that anyway
