Nursery said someone had them in daughters room at nursery. A few days ago my dd2 sai she had a really itchy head. I check and check my kids often and maybe I'm lucky up to now (know its only a matter of time). But WHEN do you know????? I got them after my honeymoon pre kids, but took weeks of searching before DH able to SEE them.

You should see small white eggs attached to the root of the hair. Sometimes they're greyish brown coloured eggs.

The lice you rarely see scuttling about unless you use a fine nit comb and comb them out onto a white sheet or something.

I normally put a tonne of conditioner in Dd's hair and comb through over and over again until the eggs and nits start falling out. I still have to pull the eggs out by finger and thumb.

Get some tesco own brand lice solution -smother them. They are bloody quick if un smothered! Just realised dd was infested-by the time you can actually see them there are usually lots.

My dd has fine hair and I saw the buggers running around on her hairline. Agree that you will see the eggs first.

You need a really bright light, check the hair line behind the ears.

I use natural methods of removal, vinegar to remove the eggs, and in your situation I would be inclined to start treating now rather than wait.

The vinegar will run into her eyes so make sure her head is back and she has a folded towel the shield her eyes. Soak the hair and scalp in vinegar, cover with a towel or plastic, like a shower cap, for 30 mins, then comb through.

Olive or coconut oil kills the adults. I tend to mix the oil and vinegar to apply them together. This also helps to stop the vinegar running.
