Can it still be a viral illness with no fever

Hi. My 5 yr old son has been coughing all night and woke up saying that his leg and head was sore. He's been really lethargic today and sleeping some of the time but he doesn't seem to have a high temperature. Could this still be a virus? My 8 yr old has also been coughing but he's had bright red cheeks. Thanks

Oh call NHS direct now. He sounds unwell and might need a visit to out of hours. I don't like the sound of his aching head and all that sleeping.

Me and two DC have had a virus all week, headache, cough and lethargy with slight temperature, could be the same? Both have spent the day off school wrapped in their duvets, not doing much. DS is back to school now, but DD is still suffering

Thanks. He had some tea and a bath so perked up a little. He's in bed with me tonight so I can keep an eye on him. Always just expect a high temp when they're not well.

a cold is a virus and you don't always get a temp - keep an eye on the lethargy and sore head thought
