My dd 4yo has always been pale by nature, but of late she looks more paler than usual and has dark circles under her eyes.

Hoping to get a doctors appointment tomorrow to find out as to why.

Does anyone know what this could be? tia x

Anaemia? What's her diet like?

pumpkinsweetie · 08/01/2015 22:34

I struggle to get her to eat anything substantial tbh, she mainly lives of sandwiches, chocolate, fruit, crisps and the odd dinner.
Every dinner i give to her goes untouched, i give her what she wants to eat within reason as she just won't eat proper meals x

My daughter gets dark streaks under her eyes when she eats wheat. If that's all she wants there is a chance it could be due to intolerance (sounds odd but true).

pumpkinsweetie · 08/01/2015 22:39

Didn't think of an intolerance, anemia has crossed my mind as she won't be getting enough iron from her diet i imagine.

My DS (7) has always been like this but diet is OK and otherwise fairly healthy so I have not investigated.

WerewolfBarMitzvah · 08/01/2015 22:43

Is she getting enough fluid?
Hope Dr can help her out.

MistAndAWeepingRain · 08/01/2015 22:48

Could she be tired? My DD gets dark circles if she's not getting enough sleep.

BackToTheFuschia · 08/01/2015 22:49

my friends dd1 has just started iron supplements for anaemia after showing these symptoms and has perked up with a day!

pumpkinsweetie · 08/01/2015 22:51

She sleeps mostly well, sometimes she even falls asleep straight after school

Does she have any vitamins?

it could be an intolerance or reaction making her reluctant to eat or she could be anaemic.

dies she suffer from.bad wind or bloating. exhaustion?

ToomuchIsBackOnBootcamp · 08/01/2015 22:52

Is she drinking enough fluid and getting enough sleep? Sometimes when we are dehydrated, (and exhausted) the dark circles show up more as the kidneys are struggling to filter toxins and the blood is darker/thicker/not circulating as well as it should so shows up under the eyes where skin is very thin.

My dd4 was like this a month ago. Turns out she had a urine infection. Worth taking a sample to the Dr's with you to rule it out. Otherwise make sure she gets some early nights and a restful weekend.
