Child sexual abuse is a historic problem that this complacent society, successive governments and institutions do not take seriously. It made my blood boil to read this article on the BBC website by Laura Kuenssberg. Especially as the BBC are aware of how services across the board are being savagely cut by the Coalition government leaving many children at risk of physical, emotional an sexual abuse.

To quote Mr Simmons, who led the behaviour analysis unit at CEOP (Child Exploitation & Online Protection Centre) between 2009 and 2014 "Clearly we are leaving children at risk of sexual abuse, we've just seen in the press the historic abuse cases from many, many years ago that are still causing so much hurt and pain to people."

I doubt the situation will change and many children are increasingly at risk of sexual abuse and exploitation. The public generally do not care especially when vulnerable children are involved.
