mild reflux in 5 month old. gaviscon or not

DS5 is 5 months old. He had sepsis when he was born so I'm a bit anxious re his health even now .

DS pukes a lot. On average we go through 4-5 baby grows a day and goodness knows how many bibs. After most feeds I'm mopping up him, me and the floor. We talked about it with the paed when he was tiny and she said to keep an eye on it, keep him upright as much as possible. His weight is ok, he's plodding along just below the 9th centile. He's just started to be a bit fussy and squirmy when he feeds, especially at night. The hv told me to talk to the paed and the paed told me to talk to the GP. I'll try and talk to the gp on Monday. Meanwhile I've been dithering. Obviously I don't want him to be in pain but on the other hand infant gaviscon isn't very nice for a baby to take and it might be worse than the reflux pain.

I think it's worth it. They are unlikely to give you anything else unless you've tried Gaviscon because that's the mildest treatment and if that doesn't work they will try other stronger medicine. So give it a go. It can cause constipation but if your baby's really unwell it might be worth it.

You're not far off the point where you can offer him solids (most people wean at 5-6 months, depending on when they're baby seems ready), which might also help. My daughters vomiting fell dramatically when she weaned, it was such a relief. Like you, we were on several changes a day - the washing

Try to avoid eating sugar (sweets or sugary products) in your diet.
Often excess of sugar cause baby reflux.
