It can happen, unfortunately.
What did the pead say about what are next steps, if any?

She may have AIS. You might want to google it.

Get a second opinion and work from there.

Bump...

Baby girl's sometimes have swollen genitals at birth because of their mother's hormones, dd1 had a "period" after her birth. It may be that evetything will settle in the next few days. Have they said what they intend to do next?

Floop · 19/08/2014 19:36

Another one who's dd had a period. A bit of milky lactation too whilst I was breastfeeding. Our bodies do some weird things. All hormonal.

My DD also had swollen genitals, rather red, and a mini period when she was born. I was worried but reassured by doctors that this is normal. It all settled in a couple of weeks. Perhaps you could wait it out a few days before hitting the panic button.

weatherall if I Google ais, I get pages of results relating to shipping Confused

GalaxyInMyPants · 19/08/2014 20:51

Have you asked one of the midwives what they think the problem might be?

microgynoninthesky · 20/08/2014 20:41

It may be nothing but it could also be congenital adrenal hyperplasia (my dd has it). Happy to discuss by pm or point you towards support groups if it is this.
