bloody discharge in 5 year old

Hi, I wonder if you can help.
DD1 had a little bit of bloody discharge in her knickers today at the end of school. I changed them, but there is a tiny bit more in her swimming costume, which she wore all afternoon. She says she is in no pain at all and has been eating, drinking and going to the loo normally and seems absolutely fine in herself. I have taken a wee sample and put it in the fridge so I can take it to the GP tomorrow.
In the meantime, I'd be so grateful if anyone could give me some reassurance or some pointers as to what this might be caused by, I'm a little bit freaked out. The only thing I can think of is cystitis, but surely she would then be in pain when she goes to the toilet??

Could she have been scratching?

Hmm, I suppose she could have done. She is in bed now, but I shall have a look in the morning and ask her about it. I didn't notice her scratching herself this afternoon though, and she still had this tiny trace in her swimsuit, although it was really very faint. I shall aske her if she was itchy today.

Could she have worms maybe?

I doubt it, the stain is definitely coming from her vagina, rather than her bum. I looked at her bum because she thought she'd had a little poo accident when she noticed the stain) and it looked clean and blood-less.

The worms can irritate that area as well.. They crawl all over the genital area when they come out to lay eggs.

Would she set you have a look properly in the morning.. she might just have caught a nail when scratching and then that itches as it heals and on it goes.

Or she could have pushed a small object up which is quite common and it's letting you know about it with discharge.

She gets terribly giggly when I try to have a thorough look, but I shall give it a good go!

I know, it's a pain.. I had a little girl once but if she has shoved a small object up then it'll need to come put before infection or something sets in. If you can't see anything and it carry a on or starts to smell then take her to your gp.
