What comes first, illness of the spots? (Chicken pox)

Im almost certain DS only has a heavy cold/virus but was just wondering the above, because he was exposed to chicken pox 2 weeks ago.

Hes had a heavy cold, sore throat and cough for about 4 days. Seems to be getting worse rather than better.

I figured the spots would have shown by now, wouldnt they?

DS1 complained of a sore head, lost his appetite and had a very slight fever the night before his first spots came out. That was it. Kids can have it differently though so I wouldn't say for sure that it isn't CP> Sorry to hear that he's poorly though. Hope he feels better soon.

It's usually the illness first, then the spots. You'll know soon enough I guess and either way, he should start to feel better soon Flowers

I was ill for the best part of a fortnight prior to the spots coming out when I had it many moons ago as a teenager. It's almost a relief because at least then, it's obvious why you feel so poorly!
