Trying to get my 6yo to brush?

Both my 6 yo and 7 yo are resistant to my pleas. Trying a new electric toothbrush, but they couldn't care less. They do other chores without complaint. I've looked everywhere online for suggestions. This is frustrating because we're wary of bad news from the dentist!

Tell them no sweets, chocolate, ice cream, squash etc until they start to cooperate?

I still brush my 7yo's teeth. He starts it and I finish with a thorough clean.

There has been many a lecture on how you must look after your teeth in this house.

Hhave you tried diclosing tablets, floss and mouth wash too? Mine seem more enthusiastic to brush after a tablet.

I have to twist arms a bit, too & agree with most the above. I just can't face continuing to brush DS's teeth myself, though, & luckily he does a good job once started.

I think my dentist still does her son's teeth & he's at least 10yo!
