Prominent vein in centre of the forehead

DS who is 3yo has a vein showing in the centre of his forehead (just at the hair line), and I had not given it much thought until a friend thought it was a bruise and pointed it out to me. I said it was a vein, but now concerned if there is something wrong with the vein being obvious??

Is this common in children of this age? Does anyone have any experience of this? Will contact HV just to check later on today as I'll probably not sleep now tonight for worrying!

IIRC DS1 had one at a similar age. I remember my Mum asking if it was a bruise I'm sure. All I know is that he's nearly 15 now and it must have disappeared as he got older because it's not there now.

Just mention it to the HV if you need some reassurance.

This is very normal I think. I have one. Sometimes it's more noticeable if I'm paler than usual, exercising or if I'm shouting or laughing loudly.

Thanks everyone. He's a healthy little boy otherwise, but when someone makes a remark like that it just makes you wonder sometimes....think I'm less worried now after your responses.

I have just remembered that DS1's was actually at his temple and very blue. Just mention it to the HV but don't worry. x

Couldn't get a hold of a HV this afternoon over the telephone so will be phoning Monday morning. Thanks again :)

Hi. My son who is now 7 has this. His is just above the bit in between his eyebrows. I remember people asking if it was a bruise when he was younger. I don't notice it at all now unless he is very pale or tired when I might see it a bit. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
