Poss signs of ADD or dyslexia in 7yo?

My dd (age 7 and a half) gets super tired, more so than any other child I know.

If she misses sleep or has an especially exhausting weekend she finds it very difficult to get back on top of life and struggles with her school days for a long long time afterwards.

She goes to bed at 8pm, sleeps solidly, has a good appetite for healthy food, vitamain supplements and moderate excercise. Her tiredness is apparent in the mornings before school and around bed/booktime.

Her work is about average in her class but is very willing and frustrated that she is not doing better. Her teacher says her concentration and focus are poor and that this is holding her back.

I recently took her to the doctor for blood and urine tests which have all come back normal.

Could poor concentration and perpetual tiredness be signs of ADD or perhaps dyslexia? As far as Im aware her reading and writing seem ok though she does still frequently write numbers back to front (I dont know if thats normal at this age)

Should I talk again to her teacher?
Again to the doctor?

Any thoughts/ advice gratefully received.

Thank you in advance!

I think 8pm is quite a late bedtime on a school night. Any chance you could give her an extra hour?

Writing numbers and letters back to front is completely normal as my dd is same age and in top group for reading etc but still writes them back to front occasionally.

Why does she need vitamin supplements if she eats a healthy diet? This could cause problems if she is getting too much of something?

Hi, how many hours aleep is she getting. At 7 my son would have at least 12 and more usually 13hours. He is 11 now and has 11 hours 8-7am but he still gets tired. And at the weekend will have 12+ hrs. He's asking for later bed times but he clearly needs it orherwise he'd be waking up before 7! My other son doesnt need as much sleep and he has more like 7-8 hrs.

Is she falling asleep straight away? Also is she having screen time just before bed because that can affect sleep quality.

MY DS is 8. In bed by 7.30pm (though reads to himself for 10-15 mins). Our school says children this age should be in bed with lights out by 7.30pm. Though I think it depends on the child! Everyone needs different amounts of sleep. I know a child (age 10), who is still very happy to be in bed just after 7pm and others of age 8 who can happily go to bed after 9pm and not suffer with tiredness. What time does your daughter wake up? Or do you have to wake her for school?

I think it's not enough sleep. My 8 year old has a similar problem.
It's quite stressful because no matter what we do and how early we wind down, he still doesn't actually sleep enough IMO.

YY to no screen time in the hour before bed. It's a new rule here and I think it's working to some extent. Reading or drawing or chatting are the options.

Hope you all work something out. I'll watch this thread for more top tips.

Oh forgot to mention - I don't know about the ADD. I have a meeting with the teacher.

My ds (7) has ADD. He goes to bed between 9pm and 10pm and sometimes doesn't sleep until 11pm and beyond. He is awake and raring to go by 6am and often before. I need more sleep than he does. Apparently I was the same as a child!
