Best/least painful way to clear DS nose

DS has a dreadful cold and virus (has a viral rash too) so the poor love is rather under the weather.

I'm having a problem cleaning his nose for him. One nostril is completely gunked over with snot. It's seemingly immune to my normal nose cleaning methods (normal wiping, wiping with warm wet flannel, soaking in bath then vigorous towel rub, rub of vaseline and then tissue).

What else can I do? He will barely let me near it (have to bear hug with arms pinned), I need something foolproof that won't hurt him Sad. If he would let me at it with my nail I'm sure a well placed corner lift would bring it all away but I just can't/he won't let me.

Please help me help my poor boy! He's almost 2 btw.

Hope you've had some luck with it by now. This probably sounds awful but could you have a go when he's asleep? As you say, get your nail in the right place and it would probably all come out.

Otherwise, could you sit in a steamy room with him and see if the heat loosens it up a bit?

Seasalt spray? You'll have to pin him down and it's a shock but not painful - and in my experience it will de-gunk immediately.

The brand I used on dd when she was a baby is stérimar.

In the end I managed to remove the majority of it with a cotton wool pad with some coconut oil smeared on it. In the steamy bathroom. I think he was intrigued as to what the lovely smell was on the pad that he didn't immediately think it would be nose-related... so got a big bit off and then I got almost everything else out/off when he was asleep EverythingCounts, good call.

I tried the seasalt spray mamalovesmojitos but it couldn't actually go in the nostril, nothing was coming in or out!

He seems a lot happier now his little nose is clearer Smile Thanks for responses Thanks
