Does anyone know of a private Paed Consultant in Scotland specialising in constipation

My dd (now 10) has suffered from constipation all her life. We have been doing peristeen rectal washouts for 2 1/2 yrs now after exhausting every laxative of any kind.

I suppose I would like a 2nd opinion tbh - I need to know we are doing this for the right reasons etc.

Many thanks

that sounds really tough for you both :(
have you tried playing with diet at all? cutting out dairy for example?

can't help with your actual query i'm afraid, but hopefully someone else will be able to point you in the right direction

Yes I'm afraid so. We have been dairy free, soya free, gluten free - you name it we've tried it!

Thanks though :)

Where we stay in scotland there aren't any paediatricians do private work so I'm not sure if that's the same everywhere. When I wanted my son to see someone for a skin issue however, we took him to a private dermatologist who also saw children. Look up the murrayfield or spire hospital in edinburgh and glasgow and if there are no paediatricians see if there are gastroenterologist a who have an interest in children's issues.

Thanks PJ I'll try that too :). We're so far north that we'll have to travel anyway!

Hi, we took my daughter to see a private gastroenterologist

www.bmihealthcare.co.uk/consultant/consultantdetails?p_name=Paraic-McGrogan&p_id=43554

He was good and actually couldn't help,us , my daughter has complex issues and to stay in the private system would have been too expensive. He didn't charge us in the end but his suggestion of a diagnosis has now been taken us by our paediatrician.

I guess you are under a paediatric gastroenterologist already?
