You don't say whether DC is going into hospital to have them out?
Or whether in dentist chair?
Whether DC is scared?

Madamecastafiore · 16/04/2014 14:40

Why does she need them removed? My dentist warns about dentists being extraction happy and the effect it has on your. Face as you get older.

Lovehorror · 16/04/2014 14:41

Sorry no it just at the dentist, luckily he isn't scared, think I am more then him.

He has to have them out as he needs braces.

It should be very quick and easy then.
DC should take a couple (or 1?) of painkillers about half an hour beforehand. lukewarm soup and mashed potato for a day perhaps.

I had 8 baby teeth and 4 adult teeth removed at various stages because I've got a small jaw. 4 out won't affect DC's face!

Thank you,is salt water still ok to use afterwards?

Mine threw up after having one removed at the dentist (actually it was a baby molar that was part dissolved by the new tooth coming in). I don't know if it was the stress or the injection - 10 minutes after we left the dentist on the way home in the car (with no warning - not nice).

My advice would be to have some treat lined up for afterwards (or the next day maybe) to help take his mind off it.

Lovehorror · 16/04/2014 14:49

Oh that's not good, been told it's 2 injections per tooth.

Just something to be aware of maybe. Maybe 10 minutes in the fresh air before a car journey.

Hope it goes well.

DS was told for yrs he had to have 4 teeth out and THEN... he didn't. His mouth grew more than orthodontist expected while the dentist kept refusing to remove because the teeth just hadn't descended enough. So dentist was refusing to make it a surgical operation. I am so pleased about that.

Has dentist confirmed they'll be removed? Dentist should be your best resource about what to expect. Everyone in DH's family has had at least 4 removed, they seem ok for it.

Yes his appointment is at 4.45 today.
