Ds is 3yo and this morning running jumped on to his mattress (on the floor) and hurt his leg, cried but no swelling obvious, has then been complaining all day about not being able to walk (although he does but limping) and saying that it hurts. DH says it's nothing but I am not so sure. Should I ring nhs direct or gp? They may say to take him to er just to cover their backs? We don't want to put ds through the stress of going to er unnecessarily.

In my opinion - If he is limping and in pain he needs to be seen, if there is a reason you need/want to delay this try resting the leg, ice on the area that he says hurts and put it up on a cushion - and try pain relief such as ibuprofen-
A 3 year old won't just stop and rest and if the limping is consistent, they don't really fake injuries so may be better to just get it checked out.
