So a quick wwyd question. My son came home from school and as walking home said he was desperate for a poo but very desperate he went to the toilet as soon as we got in and had a bout of diahorrea. No pain just really explosive one off bout. He doesn't seem ill at all in himself and has had no tummy ache or anything. Ate his tea as normal and has had no more and gone to bed fine. Dilemma is school tomorrow or not?? He has been off lots lately never had a day off in reception he is now year 1 and has been off 3 times with tonsillitis once with a sickness bug and missed 2 days last week with a bad cold and cough. Really do not want to keep him off tomorrow if he is well but the school rules state 48 hrs!!! So do I keep him home till Friday??

Personally, if it was a one off and he is not poorly, then I would assume it wasn't a tummy bug. And thus he will be fine for school tomorrow. If his tummy is at all unsettled overnight I would reassess though.

If it isn't usual for him to have bout of diahorrea I would keep him off tomorrow and then send in Thursday if still nothing else.

Could be constipation or IBS attack. That can cause a urgent one off bout of explosive poo. If it was loose scraggy poo and I would probably think it was an irritated bowel.
